We’re searching for a VP Product Strategy Germany / German Country Manager / Director Product Strategy for a very high-profile US consumer healthtech/wellness brand (App and web based) who’s recent multi-$100m funding round positions them to localise their service across new European and Global territories and enter new markets.
The VP Product Strategy Germany / German Country Manager / Director Product Strategy role involves leading the Germany product and growth strategy formation and execution, across all commercial levers, with a particular focus on product localisation and shaping the product for the German market. Over time you’ll build and lead a team to localise all services, create partnerships, and drive all marketing activities to acquire, delight and retain German customers.
This is a rare opportunity to take a high-profile consumer wellness service with a proven product market fit and significant funding into the German market. You’ll be very hands on initially, building a high performing team over time.
The VP Product Strategy Germany / German Country Manager / Director Product Strategy will:
– Develop and own DE product and service offering in partnership with International and the DACH team
– Create a prioritized list of product feature roll-outs, development and initiatives for DE users
– Ultimately own the local product experience across product features (including translation) and making sure the DE experience keeps up with the growth and pivots of the EN product
– In conjunction with International and domestic teams, identify and craft local service features such as local methods, monitoring the quality of customer service, analysing GTKOU research and drive DE Marketing with the Director of DE Marketing
– Ensure compliance with local legislation and regulatory requirements across DACH
– Develop the Germany strategy and translate into operating plans
– Conduct in-market research to understand consumers and competitor set
– Develop an initial strategy for positioning in market
– Create a prioritized list of initiatives which tie back to clear impacts on top and bottom line for the country
– Stand up a voice of the market feedback loop with HQ teams
– Translate these initiatives into requirements for cross-functional partners and work with S&P to prioritize
– Develop a standard format to provide feedback to HQ teams on where gaps exist on the local customer experience
– Build and lead local operations
– Hire local roles to enable partnerships and activations which can drive organic growth for the business
– Be the in-market figurehead, handling PR and gov’t relations responsibilities in conjunction with Comms and Legal teams/agencies
Candidates for the VP Product Strategy Germany / German Country Manager / Director Product Strategy role must have:
– Fluency in German with strong product and commercial leadership experience in the German market.
– Previous experience in a commercial leadership role (eg Chief Growth Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Country Manager, GM, VP UK, etc) for a consumer facing digital service (App, Web or ideally both) from any consumer sector such as healthtech, wellness, Fintech, Edtech, eCommerce, Travel, Media, Food Delivery, Fulfillment, Social Media, Classifieds, Price Comparison, Proptech, etc.
– Ideally experience with a scaling consumer tech brand / Scale Up / Start Up experience.
– Leadership experience across product management, marketing, partnerships and all commercial growth levers.
– Comfort being hands-on and detail focussed, particularly in the early stages.
– Strong experience building and leading high performing teams, across marketing, product, partnerships, etc.
– A very strong data focus and comfort generating insight, measuring performance and solving problems using data.
– First class communication and influencing skills to manage internal and external relationships, engage and pitch to partners and for PR/Press communications.
